Photos from USASA Slopestyle 2

Last Sunday's slopestyle competition was a blast! The weather couldn't have been better, and the level of competition was seriously impressive. Thanks to the athletes for all the great attitudes you all had.

I'd like to give a huge thanks to Jake Sporn for taking photos during the competition. Below are some of the photos he took of NYSEF Freeriders. If you would like to check out any more of Jake's work please go here.

North Creek Cross Event

The 1st USASA ADK Cross event of the year took place at the North Creek Ski Bowl this past Monday and thanks to the Gore Mt staff and especially course builder Jason O'Hara it was a great start.  The course was extended this season by moving the start further uphill.  Course times ranged from the mid-30 seconds range up to around a minute for the beginners.
Sixty-one skiers and riders competed in all with athletes attending from as far away as the Maine Mt and Mid-Atlantic series!
Congratulations to the winners and all our NYSEF athletes!  Way to go!
Results can be found here . Next ADK event is the 2nd Whiteface Slopestyle this coming Sunday, January 27th.  More info can be found on the Adirondack homepage.  Hope to see you there!

USASA Slopestyle

Members of the NYSEF Freeride team started their slopestyle season this past weekend at the USASA event held in Whiteface's Brookside terrain park. The park crew worked all night to complete the jump line and set new rails in place to create the venue and it turned out to be one of the best season-openers yet.  Thanks to snowmaking and Mother Nature the park was in mid-season form and so too it seemed were the skiers and riders form NYSEF.  Head Freeride Coach Justin Perry credits the higher level of competition to summer pool training and the addition of the new US Airbag to the mountain's freestyle arsenal.  "Our athletes now have the tools to take their tricks up a level right here at home" , says JP, "and it shows with the number of flips, spins, and higher difficulty maneuvers we're now seeing them throw on snow. It's awesome!"
Check out the results here .
And check out the video of Orion Stearns' attempt at a double! Almost pulled it off! Maybe next time?

The Skiing Weatherman Skis with NYSEF at Whiteface

The Sunday before the holiday camp had started, the NYSEF freestyle skiers happened to stumble upon The Skiing Weatherman at the top of the Broadway terrain park. After talking to him for a little bit he asked if he could film us skiing through the terrain parks. That made many of the team members very stoked! We took one lap with him through both parks as a group. Many of the shots he got from this one run were eventually used in his episode filmed at Whiteface. Check it out:
